It turns out that the 420 square feet polytunnel we have, with 252 square feet of growing space isn’t enough. Very strange how when one begins these things that it’s never enough. So I’m expanding.

I have a created and dug a new bed to plant all of the excess onions that I bought. I dug away the side of the hill, removed as many of the weeds and roots as I could, lined the sides with stone, layered in cardboard and then filled with soil and compost. Looks good. Planted the Onions and the problematic Sweetcorn. We’ll see how they go outside.

The weather has been very changeable. Turned very overcast and foggy, had a bit of rain but not enough and then the Sun comes back and along with in the temperature plummets.

We’ve got plenty of things growing in the polytunnel. The world’s supply of Potatoes, even more Onions, Carrots, Peas, Lettuce, Tomatoes, Beetroot, Sweetcorn, Runner and French Beans and more Onions. Everything is sprouting and now I just have to look after it. It’s pleasing to see it all happening.

I went for a walk with Tash and Gracie-Anne to the spring to show them what we have put in place and to help bring back some of the accumulated stuff of years of getting the spring to worked. The level is low because of the lack of rain fall but otherwise the tanks and the filter system seem to be working very well. Just need to insulate the pipes and bring back all of the redundant kit and then let Mother Nature heal the scars of all of the work.

There are two great pictures below of what looks like a very pale Sun but is in fact the full Moons we have had this week. Hope you like them.
